    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

    Safety Instructions

Can I use my pressure cooker for steam cooking?

Yes, your pressure cooker is suitable for steam cooking, an ideal method for preserving vegetable vitamins and nutrients. To steam cook: Do not exceed 750 ml (approximately 6 glasses) of liquid. Place the food in the steam basket, ensuring it rests on the trivet or is suspended from the pan’s rivets (depending on the model). Ensure the food remains above the water level and is not submerged.

Can I store food in my pressure cooker?

No, do not store food in the pressure cooker before or after cooking. Always transfer cooked food to a sealed container and refrigerate it.

Why is my food undercooked or overcooked?

    Check the following:

    • Cooking time settings
    • Heat level after reaching pressure
    • Proper placement of the pressure regulator valve
    • Sufficient quantity of liquid

How can I adapt my recipes for pressure cooking?

Pressure cooking is up to three times faster than traditional cooking. Begin with recipes from your cooker’s instruction book. Once familiar with the method, you can adapt other recipes—just ensure you use at least 250 ml (2 glasses) of liquid.

How do I release steam after cooking?

    There are two methods:

Slow Release: Turn the program selector slowly to the steam position. Ideal for stews, vegetables, meats, and fish.

Fast Release: Run cold water over the metal part of the lid. Best for liquid-rich dishes like soups, rice, pasta, and milk-based recipes to prevent splattering. Once the pressure indicator drops, all pressure has been released.

How much liquid should I use?

Always add at least 250 ml (2 glasses) of liquid for safe pressure cooking.

    Cleaning and Maintenance

The browning or marks that may develop on your pressure
cooker over time do not impact its performance or safety.

    • Dishwasher Safe: Both the pot and lid are dishwasher safe. However, do not place the gasket or the operating valve in the dishwasher.
    • Avoid Unscrewing: Never unscrew the three central screws inside the lid.
    • Avoid Overheating: To prolong the life of your pressure cooker, never overheat the pot when it’s empty.

Cleaning and Maintenance After Each Use:

    Cleaning the Pot:

    • Wash the pressure pot using warm water, a scouring pad, and dishwashing liquid.
    • If there’s an iridescent sheen or mineral stains inside the steel pot, clean it with white vinegar.

    Cleaning the Lid:

    • The lid is dishwasher safe, except for the gasket and operating valve. Alternatively, use a sponge and dishwashing liquid to clean it by hand.
    • After washing, drain the lid vertically to remove any remaining water between the metal and plastic parts.

    Cleaning the Gasket and Valve:

    • Hand wash the gasket and its housing after every use.
    • Remove the operating valve and rinse it under running water. Ensure the steam release outlet is clear; if it's clogged, use a toothpick to clean it.
    Recommendations for Use
    • Hot Steam: The steam released from the pressure cooker is extremely hot—be careful not to burn yourself. Wear gloves if necessary.
    • Do Not Open: Never attempt to open the cooker when the pressure indicator is raised.
    • Steam Jet: Always be cautious of the steam jet.
    • Supervise Children: Keep close supervision when using the pressure cooker around children.
    • Use Side Handles: Always use the side handles to lift and move the cooker.
    • Avoid Over-Storage: Do not leave food in the pressure cooker for too long.
    • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Never use bleach or chlorine products, as they can damage the steel.
    • Avoid Soaking the Lid: Do not leave the lid soaking in water.
    • Replace the Gasket: Change the gasket annually or if it shows any cuts or damage.
    • Clean When Cool: Only clean the pressure cooker when it’s cold and empty.
    • Regular Inspection: After 10 years of use, have your pressure cooker inspected at a T-fal authorized service center.
